Twitter can't get enough of the USWNT's World Cup win
Megan Rapinoe and Rose Lavelle took their places in women's soccer history on Sunday.
Rapinoe and Lavelle, two of the most popular members of the U.S. women's national team, scored the goals that secured a fourth World Cup title for their country.
Social media loved that they pushed the team to victory. Rapinoe's fight for equality put her front and center, but her play on the pitch was just as important. Lavelle, meanwhile, saw her stock rise throughout the tournament, and she overcame a hamstring injury to play in the final.
Twitter erupted when Rapinoe rolled in a penalty during the 61st minute:

Twitter continued to lavish praise on Lavelle when she added an insurance marker eight minutes later:
Rose Lavelle is the most innocent looking assassin I’ve ever seen tbh.

Rose Lavelle watched 2015 World Cup Final in pizza shop watching with handful of teammates from an amateur Seattle summer league team. She just struck goal that most probably clinched 2019 Trophy. What feelings she must experience. Dizzying rise born of dreams, skill and wonder🇺🇸 pic.twitter.com/kVu5xhoWFI

Glad that Rose Lavelle's scored the goal that settles it. I won't pretend to be an expert but, in my humble opinion, she's the most gifted player I've seen at this tournament. I feel very sorry for the Dutch, though, who have played *extremely* well.

The #USWNT never trailed. They broke the record for goals. They beat the second-, third- and fourth-place teams, along with the host/favorite. Legendary run.
