Adam Cole crowned inaugural NXT North American Champion

It's Adam Cole, Bay Bay.

The Undisputed Era leader made history Saturday night at the Smoothie King Center in New Orleans, surviving a six-man Ladder match against Ricochet, Velveteen Dream, Lars Sullivan, Killian Dain, and EC3 to become NXT's first-ever North American Champion.

This is the first of two matches Cole has to wrestle at "NXT TakeOver: New Orleans," as he'll be joining Kyle O'Reilly to defend the Tag Team Championship against The Authors of Pain and Pete Dunne and Roderick Strong later in the show.

This opener went hard with the sheer amount of death-defying spots. One of the more breathtaking moments came when Dream scaled to the top of a 20-foot ladder and delivered an elbow drop onto a fallen Sullivan.

Dream attempted to outdo himself later by placing Ricochet on his shoulders and crashing him into a ladder with a cartwheel death valley driver.

Ricochet was arguably the standout of this epic bout, taking to the skies on more than one occasion to showcase his unparalleled aerial athleticism.

The finish came when Cole tilted over the ladder carrying Ricochet, sending him crashing to the outside, before climbing it himself to bring down the belt.
