The Rock used to wrestle in parking lots of used car dealerships
Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson shared some stories from the early days of his wrestling career while appearing on Wednesday's episode of "The Late Show with Stephen Colbert," including how he used to wrestle at flea markets and used car dealerships.
"So Monday nights were the flea market. I would wrestle there at the big time flea market in Memphis, Tennessee. Saturday would be the state fair, every Saturday. And then throughout the week, we would wrestle at used car dealerships," Johnson said.
"We used to set up rings in the parking lots of used car dealerships and people would go in, they'd buy used cars, and if you want, you can see free wrestling matches."
Johnson admitted on Twitter that he didn't enjoy wrestling in flea markets at the time, but is now grateful for it.
Ha trust me, at that time I hated wrestling in flea markets for $40bucks per match and Waffle House was the only thing I could afford 3xs a day. But these days I’m so grateful that was my life. Valuable lessons learned. And Waffle House will 4ever be my jam 😉🙏🏾🤙🏾 #110Percent https://t.co/kZsgrdR8cK
