WWE to donate $100K to Knoxville foundation at Mayor Kane's request
WWE is donating $100,000 to the Knoxville Public Safety Foundation, a charity that helps first responders and their immediate family members in times of need.
The company announced Tuesday in a press release that newly-elected Knox County mayor Glenn Jacobs, known to wrestling fans as Kane, requested the donation in return for making WWE appearances this fall, according to Katie Pylipow of WBIR-TV.
"(This) $100,000 is a significant contribution especially for the family of a fallen police officer or a firefighter that could help them through that transition of losing a loved one," Jacobs said.
WWE plans to present the check to the foundation at the next live event in Knoxville, which is scheduled for January 2019.
Kane will be in The Undertaker's corner for his final against Triple H at WWE Super Show-Down in Melbourne Australia on Oct. 6.
