White open to booking Jones-Lesnar UFC bout
UFC president Dana White said Tuesday he'd be willing to book a heavyweight bout between Jon Jones and Brock Lesnar, according to TMZ Sports.
Lesnar, a pro wrestling star and former UFC champion, became a free agent earlier this week after his WWE contract expired, leading to speculation he could return to the Octagon for another fight.
Jones expressed interest in the pairing on Monday, vowing to "beatcho ass" in a tweet directed at Lesnar. The former light heavyweight champion recently vacated his title to pursue a run in the heavyweight division.
White said he's open to the Jones-Lesnar matchup if the latter is "seriously interested." Lesnar hasn't stepped into the cage since 2016. He initially beat Mark Hunt at UFC 200, but the result was overturned and became a no-contest due to a positive drug test.
Jones called out Lesnar in 2017 during his UFC 214 postfight interview after knocking out Daniel Cormier to recapture the 205-pound belt. That result was also overturned to a no-contest after "Bones" failed a drug test.
