Government documents believed Rousey's staged WWE arrest was real
The United States Department of Health and Human Services appears to have mistaken Ronda Rousey's staged arrest on a 2019 episode of Raw for a real event.
Rousey was one of at least 274 potential celebrity contributors vetted as part of a $300 million taxpayer-funded ad campaign to "defeat despair" from the COVID-19 pandemic, as detailed in Dan Diamond of Politico's report.
One document created for the campaign, titled "PSA Celebrity Tracker," lists the celebrities' names, their status for the campaign, additional notes (including details such as their political leanings and past controversies), and their targeted demographic. Rousey's notes read: "Publicly supported Democratic Party candidate Bernie Sanders for 2016 election. Anti-feminist view at times. Arrested during a WWE event in 2019."
Rousey, Becky Lynch, and Charlotte Flair were arrested on the April 1, 2019 episode of Raw, just days before their main event match at WrestleMania 35.
WWE legend Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson was also listed in the "PSA Celebrity Tracker" but declined to participate in the campaign.
