'The Last Dance' producers working on Steve Austin documentary
The producers behind the acclaimed Chicago Bulls documentary series "The Last Dance" have a new project in the works about WWE legend "Stone Cold" Steve Austin.
Former WWE ring announcer Lilian Garcia revealed during an appearance on "The Chris Van Vliet Show" that she was approached about being featured in a documentary about Austin.
"WWE reached out to me first. They were like, 'The producer from 'The Last Dance' is going to reach out to you. They want you involved in a documentary,'" Garcia said. "I was like, 'Wait, what?' ... It was funny because my husband and I were currently watching that documentary as this message was happening. So when (the producer) Jake (Rogal) reached out to me, I was just like, 'Jake, I'm literally watching your documentary right now, this is amazing.'
"Come to find out that they want to do a documentary for 'Stone Cold' Steve Austin and it's coming out next year."
The Austin discussion starts around the 6:00 mark in the video below.
"The Last Dance," which premiered in April, chronicled the Michael Jordan-led Bulls during the 1997-98 season. It won the Emmy for most outstanding documentary or nonfiction series.
