The Rock's daughter, Simone Johnson, responds to criticism over WWE name
Simone Johnson, the daughter of WWE legend Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, ruffled some feathers after unveiling her professional wrestling name.
The 20-year-old revealed Sunday that she'll be known as Ava Raine in WWE, which was met by disappointment and criticism from some fans who believe her name should have a connection to her father.

Simone responded to the backlash in a series of tweets.
"I probably sound like a broken record and hopefully this is the last I'll mention this but I don't understand why people being portrayed as separate individuals from their family name is such a heated topic," she wrote. "A name doesn't discredit any prior accomplishments from any family."
i could build my entire career around my father & people would still bash me anyway 🤷🏽♀️ https://t.co/LjkQdoOpws

Simone signed with WWE in 2020, becoming the fourth generation of her family to join the company. Her grandfather, Rocky Johnson, and great-grandfather, Peter Maivia, are both in the WWE Hall of Fame.
