Nurse: Ref 'ignored' my TO call before go-ahead basket

Philadelphia 76ers head coach Nick Nurse says he attempted to call a timeout before the chaotic sequence that led to Donte DiVincenzo's go-ahead triple.

"I call timeout. The referee looked right at me, ignored me," Nurse told reporters following the 76ers' 104-101 Game 2 defeat to the New York Knicks on Monday, according to Brian Lewis of The New York Post. "Looking for Tyrese (Maxey), I call timeout again. Then the whole melee started. ... I guess I've got to run out onto the floor or do something to make sure to get his attention."

After Jalen Brunson cut the deficit to two points with 27 seconds remaining, Nurse appeared to signal for a timeout before Kyle Lowry inbounded the ball.

Nurse's request wasn't granted, and Tyrese Maxey bobbled the ball on the ensuing pass from Lowry.

As Maxey crashed to the floor with the rock, Nurse seemed to ask for a timeout again.

However, Knicks forward Josh Hart immediately stripped Maxey of the ball, and the home team capitalized on the opportunity.

"Well, there's been some pretty wild finishes, but that was right up there with the best of them," said Knicks head coach Tom Thibodeau, per SNY. "And that just shows you what the playoffs are all about. And oftentimes, it's a hustle play here, a hustle play there."

The 76ers plan on filing a grievance with the league over the officiating in the series, a team spokesperson told ESPN's Tim Bontemps.

New York takes a 2-0 series lead into Thursday's Game 3 showdown in Philadelphia.

"We're going to win this series," Embiid said postgame, per Brian Mahoney of The Associated Press. "We know what we've got to fix and we did a better job today, so we're going to fix it. But we're the better team and we're going to keep fighting."
