Alonzo Adams / USA TODAY Sports

Texas Tech freshman guard Devaugntah Williams had a big night for his squad Saturday night, putting up 20 points and six rebounds to lead the Red Raiders to a 78-73 upset victory over No. 9 Iowa State.

The Red Raiders took a commanding 23-8 lead with more than 10 minutes left in the first half, with Williams and junior guard Toddrick Gotcher putting up the majority of their team's points. The Cyclones responded, but the half ended with Texas Tech ahead 36-25.

The second half got off to another rocky start for Iowa State as the Red Raiders took a 60-47 lead with six minutes remaining. Iowa State, thanks to some strong play from sophomore guard Monte Morris, was able to get within three points in the final minute, but forward Georges Niang missed a 3-point shot for the tie.

Texas Tech will now travel to Oklahoma to face the Sooners on Wednesday. Iowa State will try to bounce back from its third loss of the season against Texas on Monday.
