Here are the fantasy repercussions following the news that D Jacob Trouba has signed a two-year deal with the Winnipeg Jets, ending his holdout:

Trouba's Forecast

In banger leagues (leagues with hits, blocks and PIMs) Trouba needs to be added immediately if he wasn't already drafted and stashed. He only had 21 points in 81 games last season, but contributed in other ways with 133 shots, 144 hits, 177 blocks and 62 PIMs.

Like banger leagues, Trouba is a must add in keeper leagues. Though his career offensive season of 10 goals and 29 points in 65 games came during his rookie campaign, this is still a 22-year-old defenseman oozing with upside. If his wish were granted and he were moved out of Winnipeg, he would likely take on a larger role involving top-pairing minutes and power-play time.

In standard-scoring leagues, adding Trouba shouldn't be viewed as an urgent move, unless you're in a deep league or are in dire need of a D. He has never cracked 30 points, probably won't see power-play time and might get off to a slow start after skipping training camp and the first two weeks of the season. He did represent Team North America at the World Cup of Hockey, though.

How his return affects Winnipeg

Trouba's return to the Jets lineup is a huge boost to the team's D-core - if he remains with the team, that is. There is still a very good chance Trouba gets dealt. Aside from Dustin Byfuglien, Tyler Myers and Toby Enstrom, Winnipeg's D unit is filled with plenty of inexperience and instability. Trouba solidifies the bottom pairing.

Winnipeg instantly becomes a deeper and tougher team to play against with a physical specimen like Trouba in the lineup. You might want to consider giving Connor Hellebuyck a bit more time if you had any thoughts about dropping the young netminder in 12-team leagues.

For Byfuglien owners, the lumbering defenseman won't continue logging 28:45 per night if Trouba remains a Jet. You can expect his playing time to dip down to around 25 minutes a night. This should make him fresher on a shift-to-shift basis and theoretically more effective. He has eight assists in 13 games this year, but has yet to find twine.
