Report: Michigan State's Mylan Hicks out 'roughly 5 weeks' with broken arm

Jeff Hanisch-US PRESSWIRE

Michigan State will reportedly lose one of its linebackers for about five weeks, as Mylan Hicks has a broken arm.

Hicks played in all five games for the Spartans this year, notching 12 total tackles and one sack.

"It's unfortunate," said coach Mark Dantonio. "He's a senior; he was playing well for us."

The Detroit Free Press reported that this is the second straight year the Spartans have lost a senior outside linebacker to a long-term injury.

Hicks, said the news outlet, was in "the middle of his best season, by far." He even played snaps as a nickel defensive back in certain situations.

"Safety Jalyn Powell is moving from safety to outside linebacker to add depth there," wrote the Free Press. "And Dantonio said that Demetrious Cox and RJ Williamson both can play nickel back."
