VIDEO: Enner Valencia's swerving shot leaves Brad Guzan frozen

David Butler II / USA TODAY Sports

The stage was set for the United States to record a victory in Landon Donovan's final match with the international team.

Ecuador's Enner Valencia, however, had other plans after his absurd shot spoiled the party in the dying minutes to earn a draw between the two countries during a friendly match in Hartford, Connecticut.

The shot, roughly 30 yards from goal, completely fooled 'keeper Brad Guzan. His sudden movement to the right allowed Valencia's strike to swerve into the back of the net.

The swerve was the most shocking component of the strike since it looked as though the ball deflected off the defender, but Guzan's stunned look is likely caused by an inability to see the ball since the U.S. defender is directly in his way. This is a brilliant shot from the 24-year-old striker rather than a deflection.

Valencia is quite a bundle of mischief! That was filthy knuckleball. #USAvsECU #USMNT #LegenD #LIKEABOSS
