Daniel Sturridge suggests injury problems could be 'hereditary'

Blame it on Uncle Dean and Uncle Simon.

In conversation with talkSPORT, Daniel Sturridge addressed the nagging injuries that he's been forced to deal with this season and suggested that the issues could be hereditary.

"I play my game as best I can, but I've been unfortunate this season," said Sturridge, who hasn't played since the beginning of September, when he suffered thigh and calf problems.

"Maybe it's my body type, maybe it's hereditary. Both my uncles had injuries, and my dad had them as well. Maybe it's the Caribbean vibes, maybe I have speed but maybe it makes you more vulnerable because of the fast twitch muscles and the speed in which you're moving. I am vulnerable to muscle injuries. As long as I continue to work hard everything will take care of itself."

Sturridge, the nephew of professional footballers Dean and Simon, isn't expected to take the pitch again until Liverpool's clash against Chelsea on Nov. 8 at the earliest.
