Big Ten fines Maryland $10K, suspends Stefon Diggs 1 game

Rich Barnes-USA TODAY Sports

The Big Ten conference has publicly reprimanded Maryland for its actions Saturday, when several Terrapins players refused to shake hands with Penn State players following a pre-game scuffle.

Maryland has been fined $10,000 for the display, according to CBS Sports' Tom Fornelli. Stefon Diggs, one of the captains who refused to shake hands, was also suspended for one game for his actions toward officials and opposing players before the game.

Diggs is Maryland's leading receiver with 52 catches for 654 yards and five touchdowns this season. The Terrapins play Michigan State on Nov. 15.
