D'haquille Williams day-to-day with sprained MCL

John Reed / USA TODAY Sports

Auburn's top wide receiver D'haquille Williams is still sidelined with a sprained MCL, but is hopeful to play in Saturday's Iron Bowl against Alabama.

Although Williams has missed two consecutive games with the injury, he still leads all Tigers receivers with 609 yards and five touchdowns.

Offensive coordinator Rhett Lashlee said the signs are good, but the team will know more after Williams practices, the Montgomery Advertiser's James Crepea reported.

"We're optimistic. He's getting better," Lashlee said. "The guys we held (out), we felt like it was the right decision, and we feel like it's going to increase their chances of playing this week. We'll just know when we get out there (Monday) and get after it and see where they're at. But we're always optimistic our guys are going to be ready to go."
