Van Gaal admits he still doesn't know his best starting lineup, formation

Louis van Gaal has been altering his lineup so much this season, Claudio Ranieri would be proud.

Famously dubbed the Tinkerman, Ranieri would have nothing on his Dutch counterpart's performance this year, as the latter has played musical chairs with his starting lineup throughout his first season at Old Trafford.

Despite being at the club for seven months, Van Gaal says he still hasn't found his best starting lineup, nor the formation that can get the best out of his current group.

"No, I don't think so," the 63-year-old tactician said, according to FOX Sports, when asked if he has found the proper balance in his side.

"I have played now already five or six systems and I am looking still for the balance. But this system is more attractive than normally and I can play with more attacking players," he said of the 4-4-2 diamond formation utilized against Burnley this week.

"That's the reason I am doing that.

"In spite of the fact that we are looking for the balance, our results are not bad and our defensive organization is not bad, we also score a lot of goals. So, I cannot say that I am very disappointed about that. But we have to it now, and normally you have to do it pre-season."
