Johnny Manziel's rookie season has come to a premature end.
The Cleveland Browns' rookie quarterback will not play Week 17 due to a hamstring injury, Browns head coach Mike Pettine announced Monday.
Cleveland selected Manziel with one of their two first-round selections in the 2014 NFL Draft, and he only made a few appearances this season.
Manziel scored his first NFL rushing touchdown in a supporting role against the Buffalo Bills in Week 13, but the former Heisman Trophy-winner played poorly in his two starts, going 13-of-26 for zero touchdowns and two interceptions.
The Browns hoped Manziel could be the quarterback of their future, but the jury is still out on the 22-year-old.
