Vasiliy Lomachenko has hung up his gloves at age 37 after a sparkling professional and amateur boxing career.

"I'm grateful for every victory and defeat inside the ring and outside the ring," Lomachenko said Thursday on Instagram. "I'm thankful that as my career comes to an end, I've gained clarity about the direction a person must take in order to achieve true victory, not just in the ring."

Lomachenko posted a 396-1 amateur record and won two Olympic gold medals (Beijing 2008, London 2012) before his first pro fight in 2014. He went 18-3 with 12 knockouts as a pound-for-pound star en route to becoming a champion in three different weight classes (featherweight, junior lightweight, and lightweight).

The Ukrainian fighter's only losses came via unanimous decisions against Teofimo Lopez in 2020 and Devin Haney in 2023, and a split decision versus Orlando Salido in 2014.

"I would also be remiss not to thank you, my dear boxing fans around the world," Lomachenko added. "You have always supported me with passion and lived through unforgettable fights alongside me for over a decade. I hope you continue to love and respect this sport, because the men who step in the ring risk their health for the sake of their families."

Lomachenko beat George Kambosos Jr. in his last fight in May 2024 to win the vacant IBF lightweight title.
