Monchengladbach's Johnson out of Bayern trip with groin injury
Borussia Monchengladbach's versatile American international Fabian Johnson will not be fit for Saturday's Bavarian jaunt to face league-leaders Bayern Munich.
Johnson, 28, won't play because of a groin injury, with 'Gladbach gaffer Andre Schubert confirming the ailment ahead of the club's third-from-last fixture.
Concerned that Johnson could risk further injury by suiting up against Pep Guardiola's lot, Schubert said, "We won't risk anything."
Traditionally a full-back, Johnson has been a varied asset for Schubert's lot this season. In 26 Bundesliga matches, Johnson has started across the midfield and on the left, scoring six times with four assists for the fifth-place side.
With a trio of matches left, Die Fohlen is one point adrift of fourth-place Hertha Berlin and a coveted Champions League spot, with a trip to the Allianz Arena followed by a visit from third-place Bayer Leverkusen, and a match at upstarts Darmstadt.
