On the heels of securing top-flight status after a meteoric six-year rise from non-league football to the Bundesliga, Darmstadt named Norbert Meier its new manager Friday.
The 57-year-old gaffer joins on a two-year contract, according to a statement on the club's website.
"We are very pleased to be able to undertake with Norbert Meier as head coach, corresponding to our requirements perfectly," club president Rudiger Fritsch said.

Meier replaces Dirk Schuster, who joined The Lillies in 2012 as manager, and guided the central German side to consecutive promotions after a rocky first year in charge. Schuster was named Augsburg boss on June 2, 2016, taking over for Markus Weinzierl, who left to manage Schalke.
The German coaching carousel continues to spin, and the latest domino is Meier, who spent the last two seasons with second-tier Arminia Bielefield.
