Gladbach fears bigger bid, Moyes may stymie move for West Ham's Oxford
Borussia Monchengladbach sporting director Max Eberl has expressed concerns that an offer from another club may scupper a permanent move for youngster Reece Oxford.
Easier said than done for the five-time German champ.
Recalled to east London by David Moyes after an underwhelming loan spell with Die Fohlen saw the 19-year-old defender make just four appearances, Eberl admits that the player still figures into Gladbach's long-term plans.
"We have spoken a lot with West Ham during the winter break," Eberl told kicker, courtesy of the Evening Standard's Jack Rosser.
"The talks continue to move forward. I hope there won’t be a bigger offer from another club. Then we have the chance that Reece comes back to us."
Gladbach's hopes of securing a permanent move for the England youth international also face a roadblock in the form of Moyes. "What I’m not keen on is selling my best young players," the Hammers boss declared.
"Reece played the last three games and, if he hadn’t, you’d be asking what he’s doing out there if he’s not getting any football."
Oxford has been sidelined with an ankle injury since returning to the London Stadium.
