Report: City prepared to keep Bayern Munich target Sane this summer
Manchester City could risk losing Leroy Sane for nothing if Bayern Munich doesn't match their demands.
City claim they have not received an offer from Bayern and are prepared to let Sane enter the final season of his contract rather than sell him for less than they believe he's worth, according to the Guardian's Ed Aarons.
On Wednesday, it was reported that the winger had agreed to a five-year contract with Bayern that was subject to a €40-million offer being accepted by City.
However, that figure is far below City's valuation, and the club is apparently open to the idea of letting Sane play out his contract before potentially leaving on a free transfer.
Bayern are reportedly only willing to pay €40 million despite City rejecting an €80-million offer for Sane last year.
It's understood that City were holding out for €120 million last summer and that it will take a significant bid to convince the Premier League outfit to sell Sane in the next transfer window.
Rules state that the 24-year-old can begin negotiating with other clubs six months prior to the end of his contract, which expires in June 2021.
City have tried to sign Sane to a new contract for more than a year, but he's apparently been reluctant to commit his future to the club.
An ACL injury forced Sane to miss the entire 2019-20 season before it was suspended due to the coronavirus pandemic. He has since recovered.
Sane, who joined City from Bundesliga side FC Schalke 04 for £37 million (€42.5 million) in 2016, scored 10 goals and provided 10 assists in 31 Premier League appearances during the 2018-19 campaign.
