Argos sign former MOP Banks
The Toronto Argonauts have signed former CFL Most Outstanding Player Brandon Banks, the team announced Sunday.
"Brandon gives us a ball in hand receiver and a vertical threat to our passing game while providing veteran leadership," Argos head coach Ryan Dinwiddie said in a statement. "What he’s done in this league is phenomenal, and we are thrilled he’ll be in Double Blue."
Banks will head over to the Argos following an eight-year stint with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats after the two sides mutually agreed to part ways.
The 34-year-old has been one of the league's most electric players in the past due to his receiving and return ability. Banks has racked up 422 receptions for 5,678 receiving yards while also putting up seven punt return touchdowns and one kickoff return score throughout his CFL career.
Banks took home the MOP award in 2019, grabbing 112 catches for 1,550 yards and 13 receiving scores. An injury limited him to just 10 games in 2021, and he tallied just 474 yards.
The former Ticat receiver will add to Toronto's impressive free-agent haul, joining the likes of running back Andrew Harris and defensive lienman Ja'Gared Davis, among others.
