Argonauts re-sign Grey Cup MOP Muamba
The Toronto Argonauts and linebacker Henoc Muamba agreed to a contract extension, the team announced Tuesday.
Muamba was named Most Outstanding Player and Most Outstanding Canadian in the 109th Grey Cup after picking off Winnipeg Blue Bombers quarterback Zach Collaros with three minutes remaining, setting up the eventual Argonauts victory.
Muamba was one of the Argos' most productive defenders in 2022, tallying 75 tackles, three sacks, and two interceptions in the regular season.
Toronto traded for linebacker Jordan Williams in early February, setting the team up to have one of the CFL's best linebacker groups in 2023.
The 33-year-old Muamba has logged 592 tackles, 78 special teams tackles, 17 sacks, eight interceptions, and 14 forced fumbles over 135 CFL games since being selected with the No. 1 pick in the 2011 CFL Draft by the Blue Bombers.
