Riders' Harris sidelined after suffering tibial plateau fracture in loss to Stamps
Saskatchewan Roughriders quarterback Trevor Harris was carted off the field after suffering a leg injury in Saturday's 33-31 loss to the Calgary Stampeders.
Harris sustained a tibial plateau fracture of his right knee and will undergo surgery, the Roughriders announced Sunday.
The Riders are optimistic the veteran passer will make a full recovery, adding they aren't ruling him out from returning later this season. Mason Fine will now be Saskatchewan's starting quarterback.
Harris went down in the fourth quarter while trying to evade a Stampeders pass rush. He took a hit that stopped his forward momentum as another defender fell and rolled into his right leg from behind.
Wishing Trevor Harris a speedy recovery @sskroughriders 🙏

Harris led Saskatchewan to three wins in its first four games of the season. He entered Week 6 with 1,159 passing yards, six touchdowns, and four interceptions. The quarterback joined the Roughriders in free agency after spending the 2022 campaign with the Montreal Alouettes.
Fine entered in relief and threw a miraculous touchdown in the final minute to put Saskatchewan on the cusp of an improbable victory.

The Roughriders failed to close the game out, though, giving up a field goal as time expired to let the Stampeders exit Mosaic Stadium with a two-point victory.
Saskatchewan slipped to 3-2 with the result, while Calgary improved to 2-3.
