Rabiot opts for Juventus after contentious PSG exit

Juventus' quest to refresh their midfield with free transfers is going to plan.

After swooping in for prized ex-Arsenal box-to-box midfielder Aaron Ramsey on a pro bono move, the Scudetto holders announced Monday the signing of Adrien Rabiot.

He'll be unveiled as the club's latest signing on Tuesday.

Rabiot joins the Old Lady after a protracted contractual impasse at Paris Saint-Germain saw the 24-year-old's terms in the French capital lapse. PSG boss Thomas Tuchel refused to play Rabiot from December onward once it became clear his future lay elsewhere.

A move to Italy gives Rabiot a chance to revive a once-promising career that hit a snag in France. In addition to a fall from grace at PSG, Rabiot's refusal to be included in Didier Deschamps' standby list for the 2018 World Cup saw the Paris-born left-footer become a popular target for derision.

Rabiot, previously linked with most of the marquee sides in Europe, is a stylish all-action midfielder capable of playing an incisive pass or making a darting run forward.

It's initially unclear how new Juventus boss Maurizio Sarri will fit both Rabiot and Ramsey in his preferred 4-3-3 formation with Bosnian set-piece savant Miralem Pjanic almost certain to helm the No. 6 role.
