Tuesday's Scottish League Cup third-round tilt at Ibrox between Rangers and St. Johnstone featured an early nominee for worst effort of the year, as Saints forward Steven MacLean missed a certain goal.
The 33-year-old Scottish-born attacker was gifted an incisive pass from teammate Michael O'Halloran only to bottle his effort, skying it well above Wes Foderingham's gaping net.
Luckily for MacLean, his teammates covered up his epic gaff, scoring twice in the opening half before tallying a third just after the interval to take a commanding 3-1 advantage over Rangers through 75 minutes.
