Report: Manchester United make Boateng approach
It would appear that Manchester United is shifting their centre-back focus to the Bavarian capital.
Linked with moves for Leicester City's Harry Maguire and Tottenham's Toby Alderweireld, United are now reportedly eyeing Bayern Munich central defender Jerome Boateng.
According to Bild's Bayern expert Christian Falk, the Red Devils contacted the Bundesliga heavyweight on Sunday in hopes of cementing a move to the English top flight before the summer transfer window slams shut on Aug. 9. The two European giants met Sunday in a pre-season friendly at Bayern's Allianz Arena, with Javi Martinez's second-half goal the difference in a narrow 1-0 victory.
United manager Jose Mourinho has frequently addressed squad concerns throughout the pre-season. Reports suggest a lucrative approach for England darling Maguire, with Leicester hoping to make the Three Lions international the club's second-highest paid player to encourage a King Power stay. Leicester's unwillingness to sell Maguire has prompted alleged interest in Alderweireld.
Boateng, 29, joined Bayern in 2011 following a season at Manchester City, and has made 156 Bundesliga appearances for the six-time defending league champ. A key part of Germany's 2014 World Cup conquest, Boateng has also been reportedly associated with a shock summer switch to Paris Saint-Germain.
