Manchester City star Leroy Sane's return to the German national team has been short-lived.

Die Mannschaft's official Twitter account revealed that the 22-year-old winger left the team's hotel Friday and is ruled out of Sunday's international friendly with Peru, citing "private reasons" following discussions with coach Joachim Low.

Sane's exit comes two days after Germany teammate Toni Kroos criticized the player's body language, boosting chatter of a reported divide between the reigning PFA Young Player of the Year and the national team.

After missing out on a spot at the 2018 World Cup in Russia, Sane returned to the fold for Thursday's scoreless Nations League draw with France, coming on for Marco Reus in the 83rd minute to earn a 13th competitive cap.

Sane has yet to start a match for City this season after an omission in the matchday squad for the 2-1 victory over Newcastle United.
