Chelsea's Hazard keeping summer options open, admits PSG advance
The Eden Hazard transfer saga is like a feeble fire that refuses to go out, and it appears the Belgian is content to fan the flames.
There is some good news for Chelsea supporters: Hazard has again ruled out a January exit, though the Blues' bulwark continues to curiously hint at possibly leaving, and admits that Paris Saint-Germain were among the teams to make an advance.
"For now I’m staying at Chelsea," Hazard told Canal Plus, per The Guardian. "I have one year left in June. If I don’t extend, it (a move) is possible. I can’t see myself leaving in January. I wouldn’t do that to the club, to the fans.
"Next summer it’s a possibility, but it’s also possible that I spend the rest of my career at Chelsea."
Arguably the Premier League's most frequent subject of transfer fodder, Hazard has been linked in the past with a "dream" Real Madrid move, admitting in October that he considered leaving the English capital after the World Cup in Russia. While the 27-year-old is pledging his short-term future to Chelsea, Hazard concedes that runaway Ligue 1 leaders PSG have made enquiries.
"There has been contact in the past with PSG but I haven’t been tempted," he said. "If I have to go back to France one day, it would be to Lille. But today, there is no chance that I’ll come back in the French league."
Hazard played an integral role for Lille's 2010-11 league-winning side, becoming the youngest to earn UNFP Ligue 1 Player of the Year honors. The dynamic dribbler made the move to Chelsea in June 2012 for a reported £32-million fee.
