Liverpool splash reported £41M to sign Jota from Wolves

Liverpool's chances of becoming back-to-back Premier League winners were handed another boost on Saturday.

One day after the club secured the services of Thiago Alcantara, the Reds signed Diogo Jota from Wolverhampton Wanderers. Liverpool paid £41 million to close the deal, according to The Guardian's Fabrizio Romano.

Jota, 23, penned a long-term contract, and makes the move to Anfield as Liverpool send Dutch teenager Ki-Jana Hoever in the other direction in a reported £9-million deal that includes a potential £4.5 million in add-ons.

"It's just a really exciting moment for me and my family," Jota said after finalizing the move. "All of my path since I was a kid and now, to join a club like Liverpool - the world champions - is just unbelievable. I just want to get started."

A four-time capped Portuguese international, Jota can play anywhere across the front line, and is expected to provide relief for Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane, and Roberto Firmino.

In three campaigns with Wolves spread across the top two tiers of English football, the versatile Jota impressed, scoring 13 goals in all competitions last season as Nuno Espirito Santo's men progressed to the Europa League quarterfinals.

Jota is represented by super-agent Jorge Mendes' Gestifute, who also brokered Fabinho's transfer from Monaco to Liverpool two summers ago.
