Manchester United full-back Matteo Darmian has vowed to stay with the club despite speculation linking the former Torino standout with a move back to Italy's top flight.
"I love the Premier League, and I want to stay here for a long time," Darmian told the Manchester Evening News.
"There is a lot of difference because this is a big club, and from Serie A there are a lot of differences."
Darmian's first season at Old Trafford has been anything but straightforward for the 26-year-old Italian international. Despite making 25 appearances for the Red Devils in the league this season, paired with four starts in the Champions League, the AC Milan academy product has been plagued by injuries.
A shoulder dislocation suffered during the first half of a mid-February match with Sunderland sidelined the right-back for five matches. That ailment was on the heels of a robust collision with Southampton attacker Shane Long that resulted in the Italian spitting up blood on the touchline.
Needless to say, Darmian has taken note of the physical nature of football in England's top flight.
"The Premier League is more physical and less tactical, this is the most important difference, but I think it is the best championship in the world, so I love it," he said.
Darmian and his United mates travel to Tottenham on Sunday with the visitors desperate for a top-four finish and coveted Champions League spot, and the hosts fighting to keep pace with table-toppers Leicester City.
