Hazard commits to Chelsea: I could end up on the bench at Real Madrid

The grass may be greener on the other side, but for Eden Hazard, the risks associated with a move outweigh the benefits.

For the time being at least, says the Chelsea attacker, who was asked about speculation linking him with a high-profile move to Champions League holder Real Madrid.

"In football, you never know, but at the moment it's not something that's on my mind. I'm a Chelsea player. I still have a contract for three years. We'll see," Hazard told a Belgian press conference, translation courtesy of HLN.

With his current deal set to expire in 2020, the recently named Chelsea Player of the Year - making Hazard just the second player to win the award three times - is in no rush, saying, "They (Chelsea) haven't offered me anything yet, but it could happen. We'll see after the holidays.

"Of course I'll listen. We all have dreams. It could be Spain, it could be staying with Chelsea. I'm good where I am now. I think I can stay at Chelsea for many years," Hazard admitted.

"But it's not something I'm thinking about right now. We'll see."

Customary responses for a player regularly hounded for transfer talk, though Hazard appeared refreshingly candid in discussing the perils of making a high-profile club stacked with talent, a plight Real's James Rodriguez will know all too well.

"But if I would ever join Real Madrid, I could end up on the bench too. I just want the best solution for myself."
