Wayne Rooney scored his 200th Premier League goal, and fittingly, it came against Manchester City.
The former Manchester United star opened the scoring Monday at the Etihad to give Everton a 1-0 first-half advantage.
Less than a minute after David Silva rung the post following a pressure-packed spell of play, Mason Holgate and Dominic Calvert-Lewin combined to find England's all-time leading scorer streaking into the area.
Pos. | Player | Goals |
---|---|---|
1 | Alan Shearer | 260 |
2 | Wayne Rooney | 200 |
3 | Andy Cole | 187 |
4 | Frank Lampard | 177 |
5 | Thierry Henry | 175 |
Rooney, 31, became just the second player in Premier League history with 200 or more goals, joining former Newcastle United star Alan Shearer.
It's been lonely in this @premierleague 200 club. Welcome and congratulations @WayneRooney 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
