Liverpool equal Premier League record with 18th straight win
Liverpool's unbeaten season lives on. Just barely.
The Reds came from behind Monday to beat West Ham United 3-2 at Anfield, matching Manchester City's Premier League record with their 18th straight win.
Monday's affair on Merseyside started as expected.
Georginio Wijnaldum gave the hosts a ninth-minute lead with an acrobatic header from Trent Alexander-Arnold's 11th league assist of the campaign.
However, towering central defender Issa Diop leveled the scoreline just three minutes later when he leaped to head Robert Snodgrass' corner beyond a lunging Alisson.
The two teams came out of the interval with the scoreline locked at a goal apiece before West Ham benefited from increased pressure when substitute Pablo Fornals scored on the half-volley nine minutes into the second half.
West Ham's advantage lasted just 14 minutes, though, as usually reliable shot-stopper Lukasz Fabianski let a Mohamed Salah effort trickle between his legs and into the back of the net.
Sadio Mane secured a spirited win 10 minutes before time when he ushered Alexander-Arnold's looping cross into a vacant net.
Liverpool can eclipse City's standard for domestic infallibility with a 19th straight victory when they visit Watford on Saturday.
The Reds again boast a 22-point advantage atop the league with 11 matches to play courtesy of the club's 21st straight home league victory.
