Liverpool goalie Loris Karius "terminated" his two-season loan at Besiktas on Monday following a dispute over unpaid wages.

Karius posted a message on his Instagram account, saying, "It’s a shame it comes to an end like this but you should know that I have tried everything to solve this situation without any problems."

The 26-year-old twice filed complaints of withheld wages, initially approaching FIFA last season over an unpaid four-month stretch. Karius also alleged that he wasn't paid this season following the suspension of the Turkish top flight in March despite offering to take a wage reduction amid the spread of the coronavirus.

"I was very patient for months telling the board over and over again. Same things happened already last year," Karius added. "Unfortunately they haven't tried to solve this situational problem and even refused my suggestion to help by taking a pay cut."

Besiktas have agreed to pay the remaining £400,000 of Karius' terms to finalize the termination, BBC Sport reports.

Karius was shipped to Besiktas two summers ago following a calamitous display in the 2018 Champions League final defeat to Real Madrid.

The former Reds No. 1 made 30 league appearances during his maiden season in Turkey and then recorded 25 this year prior to the work stoppage.
