Brendan Rodgers on Liverpool future: 'If the owners want me to go I will go'
Manager Brendan Rodgers took full responsibility for Liverpool's atrocious performance Sunday against Stoke City at the Britannia Stadium.
Rodgers said after his team's 6-1 defeat that he's prepared to face the consequences for Liverpool's poor finish to the season.
Stoke tore Liverpool apart during the first 45 minutes as they entered the break with a 5-0 advantage before recording a 6-1 victory in Steven Gerrard's final game with the Reds.
"I have always said if the owners want me to go I will go. But I still feel I have a lot of offer here," Rodgers told reporters. "There is a lot that's happened there this year that has made the job tough. Performances like today don't help me and I'm fully aware of that.
"We made too many mistakes defensively and individually. We were beaten too easily and were not competitive enough. We were very, very poor in that first half."
It was the first time Liverpool had conceded five first-half goals in the top flight of English football since 1976 against Aston Villa.
Liverpool end the season with just eight points from their final nine matches and sit eight points out of a Champions League spot. They now have to qualify for the Europa League after finishing in sixth position.
