Manchester City's £49-million man, Raheem Sterling, waited all of two minutes and 17 seconds to open his account with the defending Premier League runner-ups.
Sterling, who joined his new club for their preseason tour in Australia, scored the opening goal Tuesday as City beat Roma 5-4 on penalties after a 2-2 draw in Melbourne.
His debut had a few hiccups, however, and considering the protracted nature of his falling-out with Liverpool supporters, the subsequent transfer, and the British media's portrayal of the 20-year-old QPR youth product, he's sure to have even his most minute failures put under the microscope.
