Report: Valdes denied dressing room locker, has to train alone at United

The relationship between Louis van Gaal and Victor Valdes at Manchester United seems beyond repair as the World Cup-winning goalkeeper has been excluded from the day-to-day life of a footballer with the Red Devils.

Valdes isn't allowed a locker in the dressing room, was excluded from this season's official team photograph, and isn't even permitted to train with the reserve or youth teams, according to Daniel Taylor from the Guardian.

Valdes does, however, participate in first team training, albeit at times deliberately scheduled when the rest of the squad isn't there. Yes, he's made to train alone.

Van Gaal gave the former Barcelona man his breakthrough at Camp Nou, and then handed him the opportunity to regain fitness at United after an ACL injury effectively ended his career in Catalonia in 2014. Things soured, however, when Valdes voiced his displeasure at repeated selections for the club's reserve side.

Van Gaal accused him of not buying into his philsophy at Old Trafford, and subsequently left the Spanish shot stopper out of the squad for the preseason tour of the United States.

There's been talk of a mutual termination of Valdes' contract, but no agreement has been reached. It looks like the 33-year-old could be in for an uncomfortable time in north-west England until he can work to engineer an exit in the January transfer window.
