Aston Villa recalls Aly Cissokho from loan at Porto
Premier League bottom-dwellers Aston Villa have recalled defender Aly Cissokho early from a season-long loan with Portuguese giants FC Porto.
Cissokho, 28, was with Porto for a short spell during the 2009 season before joining Lyon for three years. The Birmingham club loaned him to Porto at the start of the 2015-16 campaign, but have now recalled the once-capped French international.
The left-back has made only two appearances with Porto this season, which coupled with Jordan Amavi's injury-related absence prompted his return to Villa Park, according to Sky Sports.
Cissokho will now reunite with current Villa boss Remi Garde, who managed the defender while at Lyon, though he will not be eligible to play for the club until January because of stipulations in his loan deal.
Porto also confirmed the decision with an announcement on their website Friday.
