Arsenal teenage playmaker Gedion Zelalem to extend Rangers loan
Arsenal's 18-year-old budding central midfield talent Gedion Zelalem is poised to extend his loan move at Rangers until the end of the season.
The Berlin-born playmaker joined Rangers in the summer on a loan through Jan. 1, 2016, hoping to gain first-team experience, and build on his time in Arsenal's famed youth academy.
Zelalem has made 11 league appearances for the Gers this season. He's played in a central role after making his debut for the Glasgow side in a 5-0 victory over Airdrieonians in the Scottish League Cup.
"Gedion is staying with us. We talked to Arsenal, that’s an on-going process," Rangers boss Mark Warburton told the Daily Record.
With the storied club lacking the financial resources they once had, Warburton appears to be fully invested in the loan market.
"It’s about us creating an environment here where clubs of that stature trust us with their players," Warburton continued.
Rangers, who are currently tied with Hibernian at the top of Scotland's second division, are desperate to return to the top-flight following a forced relegation to the third division after filing for administration in 2012.
