Report: Crystal Palace poised to bid for Swansea City's Jonjo Shelvey
Frustrated with a lack of first-team opportunities at the Liberty Stadium under caretaker manager Alan Curtis, midfielder Jonjo Shelvey appears to have been offered a lifeline by Crystal Palace.
Eagles boss Alan Pardew is familiar with Shelvey from their time together at Charlton Athletic, and the former Newcastle gaffer is reportedly interested in bolstering the ranks at Selhurst Park with the 23-year-old central midfielder, according to The Telegraph's Matt Law.
Shelvey's latest omission from Swansea City's squad for last Saturday's 2-1 defeat at Manchester United appears to be the last straw for the England international, despite Curtis' insistence that the decision "was purely selection"-related.
The former Addicks youth product has made 16 appearances for the Swans this season, pairing a goal with two assists for the struggling Welsh side.
With six caps for the Three Lions, Shelvey is desperate for first-team minutes in hopes of garnering a place in Roy Hodgson's England squad for next summer's Euro 2016 tournament in France.
With one foot seemingly out the door, the only obstacle for a potential move to the Croydon-based club would be Swansea chairman Huw Jenkins' urging that Palace pony up around £10 million for the deep-lying midfielder.
