Out of favour and languishing in football purgatory on loan at West Bromwich Albion, Arsenal is slated to recall German Under-21 midfield standout Serge Gnabry during before the January transfer window slams shut on Monday.
With only one substitute appearance at the Hawthorns this season paired with criticism from Baggies boss Tony Pulis, Gnabry's tenure at the West Midlands side has done nothing to expose the talents of a player who missed the entirety of last season with injury.
"I am tempted to give him some competition because at the moment, he has not played at West Brom, so I am tempted to let him go somewhere - to do with him what I did with (Francis) Coquelin," Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger told reporters with reference to the French defensive midfielder's loan spell at Fulham.
"To go somewhere for a month or two and then come back."
Among those reportedly interested in the robust German winger is Championship promotion favourite Brighton Hove & Albion, which would look to bring Gnabry in on loan until the end of the season.
