Report: N'Golo Kante poised for France call-up
Amid a breakthrough season starring for first-place Leicester City, Paris-born midfielder N'Golo Kante is slated for a call-up to the national side by boss Didier Deschamps.
Kante, 24, will be called up for France's upcoming friendlies with the Netherlands on March 25 and against Russia on March 29, as the nation prepares for this summer's Euro 2016 tournament, according to a report from L'Equipe.
From the near-obscurity of Normandie outfit Caen to the top of the English table, Kante's meteoric rise has been emblematic of Leicester's fairy tale story this season. On the heels of an outstanding maiden voyage in the Premier League, Kante will now earn his first national cap.
Whether he finds a spot in Deschamps' squad for the summer tournament remains to be seen, as Kante will face stiff competition from the likes of fellow midfielders Blaise Matuidi, Morgan Schneiderlin, Moussa Sissoko, Yohan Cabaye, Paul Pogba, and Dimitri Payet.
Even with a star-studded core of players ahead of him in the pecking order, Kante has faced greater obstacles in his footballing career.
