Leeds United forward Souleymane Doukara has been banned for eight matches by the FA for biting Fulham defender Fernando Amorebieta during the second half of a Feb. 23 1-1 draw at Elland Road.
"Souleymane Doukara will serve an eight-match suspension with immediate effect after he was found to have committed an act of violent conduct," a statement on the FA's website read.
"The breach of FA Rule E3, which the player denied at an Independent Regulatory Commission hearing on Wednesday (March 30), was considered a non-standard case given the seriousness and both unusual and violent nature of the misconduct."
Amorebieta was booked for his reaction to the biting, and was sent off in injury time for a second yellow card stemming from an intentional handball.
Doukara, who has scored five times in 27 appearances for Leeds this season, will be eligible to return to the team for the final game of the campaign against Preston North End on May 7.
Leeds is understandably tight-lipped on the incident, with a statement on the club's site saying, "The club is unable to comment on this matter in any further detail until the full written judgement is released.
"Suffice to say, however, the club is disappointed with the outcome and the length of the ban given to Souleymane Doukara."
Doukara, 24, has also been fined £5,000 while receiving a warning for future conduct.
