Real Madrid is making a habit of stockpiling prodigious Brazilian teenage talents.

A year and change after snatching La Canarinha youth international Vinicius Jr. from Flamengo, Real has again signed a 17-year-old from a Brazilian footballing giant, agreeing to a deal with Santos attacker Rodrygo.

Real announced the signing with a statement on its website Friday, adding that Rodrygo, like Vinicius, will stay put in Brazil. "Real Madrid C. F. and Santos Futebol Clube have agreed that Rodrygo Goes will play his football at Real Madrid when he reaches the legal age requirement," the statement reads.

"Although the player would be able to play for our club as of January 2019, the agreement in place sets out that he will join the squad in July of that year."

Real did not disclose details of the transfer, though reports out of Spain suggest the Champions League holder paid €45 million for the 17-year-old's services. Paris Saint-Germain, Liverpool, and Barcelona were all allegedly monitoring the forward, who became the youngest Brazilian to score in the Copa Libertadores when he netted against Nacional on March 16.
