England demolishes Montenegro to secure Euro 2020 berth
Harry Kane bagged a 19-minute first-half hat-trick as England outclassed Montenegro 7-0 on Thursday at Wembley Stadium to qualify for the 2020 European Championship.
The Three Lions will now contest a 10th continental competition, the most of any country that hasn't won the tournament.
Marcus Rashford, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, and Tammy Abraham also scored as England recorded at least seven goals in a match at Wembley for the first time since October 1987.
Kane became the first England player to record a treble in consecutive competitive appearances following his hat-trick versus Bulgaria. The Tottenham star now ranks sixth on England's all-time goals list with 31 behind Wayne Rooney (53), Bobby Charlton (49), Gary Lineker (48), Jimmy Greaves (44), and Michael Owen (40).
The Czech Republic also progressed from Group A courtesy of second-half goals from Alex Kala and Ondrej Celustka in a come-from-behind 2-1 victory over Kosovo in Plzen.
England and the Czech Republic joined Turkey, France, Belgium, Italy, Russia, Poland, Ukraine, and Spain in qualifying for the 24-team European Championship that's set to kick off in mid-June.
