An own goal from Fenerbahce striker Robin van Persie in the 66th minute added insult to injury for the Dutch, as Tuesday's result against the Czech Republic saw Danny Blind's men, inexplicably, eliminated from contention for Euro 2016.
The former Arsenal and Manchester United goal-machine inexplicably headed home a free-kick taken by Czech midfielder Jiri Skalak, nodding it past a dumbfounded Jeroen Zoet and into infamy.

Though he would go on to score a goal at the right end of the pitch later in the contest, his ill-directed header stood up as the difference in a 3-2 loss for the Oranje.
