Sainz leaving Ferrari after 2024 ahead of Hamilton's arrival
Carlos Sainz will leave Ferrari at the end of the upcoming Formula One campaign.
The 29-year-old driver lost his 2025 seat to seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton after the latter signed a multi-year deal with Ferrari on Thursday, ending his 12-year run with Mercedes.
"Following today's news, Scuderia Ferrari and myself will part ways at the end of 2024," Sainz said in a statement. "We still have a long season ahead of us, and, like always, I will give my absolute best for the team and for the Tifosi all around the world. News about my future will be announced in due course."
Charles Leclerc, his teammate, will remain with Ferrari after signing a long-term extension in January.
Sainz spent the last three years with Ferrari, winning two races with five poles and 16 podium finishes. The Spaniard finished seventh in the drivers' standings last season.
